In 2005, the structural adjustment of agriculture in the Zhejiang province continued, and the agricultural production developed stably. The proportion between grain crops and cash crops changed from 52.4:47.6 to 53.2:46.8. The total grain output was 8.147 million tons, a decrease of 2.4 % over the previous year. The total aquatic product output was 4.838 million tons, a decrease of 2.0 %. The output of meat, eggs and milk continued to increase.

Industry

In 2005, the industry in the whole province continued to grow rapidly. The industrial added value reached 634.3 billion RMB, with an increase of 12.9 %, among which the added value in large-scale industries amounted to 490.5 billion RMB, with an increase of 18.1%.

Light textile is one of the mainstay industries in Zhejiang province, and its output and the capacity to earn foreign exchange through exports rank the first in China. The markets specializing in textile products cover the whole range of textile product line and exert strong and far-reaching radiation effects. Zhejiang province has become the textile logistics center in China. Its Light Textile City of China and the Cocoon and Silk Market of China are specialized markets, which are very influential in China.

The machinery industry is the number one industry in the whole province. New materials are being developed rapidly.

In chemical industry, Zhejiang Province has the country's largest base of international crude oil processing, product oil export and fluorine chemical industry production. The productivity and output of the glyphosate insecticides and dyes rank the first in Asia. The output of its fine chemical industry is the highest in China. Thus a distinctive modern chemical industry system, with its diverse and comprehensive categories, has been basically formed.

In the electronic and information industry, Zhejiang Province implemented the construction of "a strong information province", giving priority to software development and the integrated circuit industry, promoting the development of "a digital Zhejiang" and "an information industry base around Hangzhou-Bay”.

In the medicine industry, Zhejiang Province is strong in the scientific research, technological development and manufacturing of pharmaceutical products, omplete with a sound medicine sales network. The main economic indexes, such as the total medicine output value, export delivery value, and profits, remain in the leading positions in China.
